Total Count of cells in Boar Semen

Ejaculates
An Application Note on how sperm cell density in ejaculates from boars can be determined by the NucleoCounter SP-100 system is available from ChemoMetec A/S. Together with the NucleoCounter SP-100 this note is intended to be used at boar stations and semen collection centers in the production of sperm doses for the artificial insemination of sows. The NucleoCounter SP-100 system determines the sperm cell density in ejaculates with a very high precision. The system makes it possible to perform a precise dilution of the semen giving a more well defined end product, with respect to the total cell count in a dose of sperm.

Semen Doses
An Application Note on how sperm cell density in boar semen doses for Artificial Insemination may be determined by the NucleoCounter SP-100 system is available from ChemoMetec A/S. Together with the NucleoCounter SP-100 this note is intended to be used for quality control of semen doses at boar stations and semen collection centers. The NucleoCounter SP-100 system determines the sperm cell density in semen doses with a very high precision and accuracy. The system can also be used for the determination of the sperm cell density in ejaculates, which have been pre-diluted with extender. Semen doses diluted with the most widely used extenders (also egg yolk containing extenders) can be analyzed with the NucleoCounter SP-100.

Determination of cell viability
The NucleoCounter SP-100 concept offers determination af cell viability in addition to the total count on cells in the sperm sample. Determination of viability is based on the "PI-exclusion" method and the principle is presented here.
