The NucleoCounter SP-100 can be connected to a PC using the USB port on the rear. The USB port of the PC must comply with USB ver. 1.1. The USB port is used for transmission of image data. The so-called "Raw Image" and the "Processed Image" is transferred from the NucleoCounter SP-100 to a PC after the analysis has taken place within the instrument. A special program (SemenView) is required for the PC for performing the image transfer.
The "Raw Image" and the "Processed Image" are presented in one the FAQs for the NucleoCounter, which is presented here.
It must be noted that being a true stand-alone instrument, all calculations, cell counting and data analysis is performed in the NucleoCounter SP-100. The transfer of image data to a PC provides the user with additional documentation only.
Lab Management systems
The export of data via the RS-232 port enables the user to integrate the NucleoCounter SP-100 in an existing laboratory management system. Software packages that accepts external data can be adapted to accommodate the measurement data from the NucleoCounter SP-100. This has been utilized by several customers integrating the SP-100 in their existing laboratory management system. The adaptation must be made by the software developer. ChemoMetec A/S provides all documentation about the protocol etc. on demand.
