Benefits Easy operation The NucleoCounter SP-100 is very easy and logical to operate. Therefore very little time is required for training of the operators and no continuous attention is needed.
30 sec. analysis time The NucleoCounter SP-100 displays the Total Cell Count in 30 sec. This fast analysis time makes the SP-100 ideally suited for production environments where a large number of samples should be analysed. The counting of non-viable cells, used for determination of % Viability takes approx. 80 sec.
No Interference Gel particles (as e.g. in boar semen), as well as other contaminants does not interfere with the counting, since ONLY stained DNA in sperm cells are counted. In a similar way, extenders containing egg yolk or skim milk, does not interfere with the counting.
Calibration free The NucleoCounter SP-100 performs an actual direct counting of stained sperm cells and requires no calibration.. Changing from one animal species to another requires no re-calibration, All instrument settings for an optimal counting is already in the instrument and is activated when selecting the species. No volume calibration is required Every single SP1-Cassette is calibrated for volume during production and coded with black dots on each Cassette. The NucleoCounter SP-100 reads the code accurately determining the analysed volume in each measurement.
The use of durable optical components makes the NucleoCounter SP-100 calibration free through out its lifetime. No cleaning The SP1-Cassette contains the entire flow system (pump, tubing, mixer, reagents and waste container) as well as the measurement chamber. As the SP1-Cassette is discarded after use this means neither cleaning nor maintenance of the NucleoCounter SP-100 is needed.
Maintenance and service free No maintenance is required as the NucleoCounter SP-100 is made of very durable and stable components. The optics, mechanics and electronics have negligible thermal and aging drift properties. The light source and the linear actuator have been tested to last for >1 x 10E6 samples. No service is needed as no calibration, cleaning nor replacement of components is necessary.
Portable/compact The weight of the NucleoCounter SP-100 is 3 kg and the size: 38 x 26 x 22 cm (W x H x D) which makes it easy to move around with.
Safe sample handling and disposal After analysis the sample and the PI is contained inside the cassette, which can be safely discarded.
Excellent reproducibility Results from different NucleoCounter SP-100s can be directly compared: 1.All NucleoCounter SP-100s are calibrated to respond as the same Master NucleoCounter SP-100 at ChemoMetec. 2.The initial calibration will maintain throughout the lifetime of a NucleoCounter SP-100.
Objective cell count Automation eliminates the subjective judgement of the operator. The NucleoCounter SP-100 cell count is therefore an objective and operator-independent count.
Small sample volume Only about 50 μl of sample mixture is loaded into the SP1-Cassette. It is possible to perform an accurate and precise estimate of the cell concentration with only a very small sample consumption.
Large analysis volume 1 μl, which is 10-20 times the volume in a haemocytometer, is analysed in one measurement. This reduces the random statistical error significantly.
Documentation SemenView software is ideal for data and image processing and for documentation.
